After the excitement of the Christmas holidays, we welcomed the children back to playgroup with lots of fun but familiar toys and resources to explore. Many of our children are drawn to construction and building so we had lots of amazing towers and building work going on.

Some of our children showed a real interest in mark making and drew fantastic pictures of their families whilst talking about their Christmas celebrations and traditions and others preferred the more sensory experiences of sand, water and exploring media and materials.

During January we also looked at the weather and all things cold and icy, from skating penguins, ice painting, practicing our cutting skills making icicles right the way through to making fantastic winter pictures and thinking about the birds and wildlife in our gardens and what they might be eating during the cold weather.

We have had so much fun exploring together and following our children’s interests. Remember to come back and see what we get up to in February!
